How long should I take to "prepare" my body before conceiving?

My husband and I are thinking about starting trying to conceive. I want to start eating healthy (my diet right now is junk) and taking prenatal vitamins. At the minimum, how long should I be doing these things before TTC? I tried Googling this question and got varied answers - everything from 3 months to one year. Help!

Thanks.

The truth is that lots of unhealthy people have very healthy babies.

That said, the longer you eat well and exercise, the better shape your body will be in and the more likely you will be to conceive quickly. There's no hard minimum, really. Just make sure you're taking your prenatal vitamins so that little bean gets folic acid from day 1! That combined with a healthy diet is the best start for him/her.

Good luck!

Yeah pretty much its as long as you want!

Certain things, like doing dental work and detoxing your body you want to do with a certain time period afterward for your body to recover but just plain starting to eat healthy has benefits from the immediate beginning.
