Tax Refunds

With it now being tax season and many are geting refunds, how are you planning to spend (or invest) your money?

I plan to:
1. Pay off my two credit cards and a medicial bill - this will move my debt to $0. Nothing more than regular monthly bills.
2. Reimburse my parents for the downpayment on my house
3. Buy some living room and bedroom furniture for my new house
4. Put the rest into savings/emergency fund.

We bought a freezer and split a quarter of a cow with friends with some of ours. We got caught up on rent. We still have more, but are trying very hard to put it aside for a vacation in July. We've never had one.

Oh my goodness, y'all must be getting way more moolah than I did!

We bought a patio set, a membership to the Y and a car seat.

All of these are making my life easier. We can eat outside most days now (my house is really tiny), my babe had outgrown the bucket, and thanks to the Y I am finally getting out of the house some days.

We're living on one income now (and for the foreseeable future while I am home with the baby) so ours is just going straight back into savings to supplement any shortfalls we have on living expenses.

We're still debating. We should pay off our van. However, we really want to take a vacation as we never have. So it looks like a bit will go to a vacation fund for October and the rest will go to the van. It sure will be nice to pay off our last debt!

Savings for summer camps for DS and next year's preschool tuition and ballet lessons for DD. The joys of parenthood!

I bought my first house in Feb so I'm eligible for the firstime homebuyers credit. That in itself is a blessing.

We are paying off a credit card and the rest is going into vacation and emergency fund (so we dont use the cc again!)

I put part of it into savings to finish out the "pay the midwife" fund, and used the rest as part of a down payment for a new-to-us minivan. It was definitely well-spent for my peace of mind.

I paid off my car. We also qualify for the homebuyer's credit, so when we get that back it will go into savings.

We got our tax return in Feb. And it's all gone. But because of hubby staying home to help with myself and kiddos while I'm on restricted bedrest for threatened preterm labor and he wasn't getting paid for that time off. We each got some spending money-I spent mine on a few books, some (but not all that's needed) fencing for eventually getting a few beef cows and garden soil to make more SFG boxes. Then I stocked up on bulk food and toiletries that we haven't been able to get. Also got everyone's b-day party stuff so we wouldn't have to worry about that. Paid off a credit card. Paid all the bills due. Then everyday groceries (we have a few food allergies that makes shopping a bit more expensive for us, plus we buy in bulk). So that's how we spent ours.

We put most of it in savings for the house we're trying to buy. (We should find out next week if our loan is approved or denied... crosses fingers!) The rest was spent on a wii and going out to our favorite Mexican place. I think we may have had a few hundred on the credit card we paid off. I can't remember. It wasn't a big amount if there was anything.

This is the question of the month for us!

I think we'll probably use the refund to go to my brother's wedding (about 3k) and the rest will cover living expenses for the summer.

Our federal return was rejected SEVERAL times, and I couldn't get a straight answer as to why. Then out of sheer frustration I played around with DH's education credits and found out we were eligible for about 1k more! And then our return was finally accepted! *happy dance!*

Ours isn't huge, but as I expected to owe this year, it's a pleasant surprise.

We are putting in a new front window and replacing half of the back fence. We did the other half last year.

I am totally jealous of the refund action I filed without my STBX and owed over $400. It was worth it not to talk to him though
