Our refund covered one-tenth of this year's out-of-pocket tuition for DC1 . . . heaved a big sigh, though, because we made it through freshman year of college without taking any loans!!!

Paid off the car, a credit card and made necessary car repairs. It feels so good to be debt free again!

Normally, I set DH's allowances on his W-4 so that we owe the fed a few hundred and we get a few hundred back from the state so that overall, we end up neither gaining or owing at tax time. It's a trick I learned from my BIL who's an accountant. But, this year we got some credits (home improvement and the pay-to-work credit), so we're getting some money back, just enough to cover the hospital bills from DD's birth in Jan.

well, we were going to pay off our debt, but our engine died yesterday and we now only have my dh's motorcycle, so we need to buy a cheap-o crap car instead

We:

- paid for my DONA training
- stuck a lot of it in the emergency fund
- ate out a couple times

We just bought our first house. Closing is in less than two months. We are getting quite a bit back because I am still able to claim education credits. The money is going straight into our savings for the house. It is an old house that needs some work, new appliances and there are closing costs still. So it is going in the pot.
