Its ALMOST MAY

April is almost over!! Thank whatever deity anyone subscribes to or none if thats your thing!

I will FINALY get my my first paycheck after a MONTH of waiting tommorrow..I will prob just cry to actualy see my rent getting paid!! *hormones yippeeee*

I gave up on trying to get foodstamps, my application is set to expire on the 6th, and I am no closer to getting an appointment or a ride into the appointment then I was 2 weeks ago. I guess I will just re-apply online for the medicaid since it doesnt require a face to face interview. Maybe if I am really lucky I will get the insurance before the baby is born in June, not holding my breath though.

OhemGee, Just when I get my head above water (even a little) BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank Goodness, yesterday was PAYDAY!!!!
My car battery completely died and I had to use most of my paycheck to buy a new one (sigh)
But at least I have a NEW battery that (hopefully) won't die on me every other week.

Hey! I think we qualify for this thread....my dh lost his job this month. We are a family of 8, and it's really tough right now.

And, to add to the stress, three of our children have birthdays this month. One is turning 16, one will be 10, and the other is going to be a teenager finally at 13! I had wanted to do cheap but special things for them, but now there is just NO money at all!!!

We do have some assistance, but our employer didn't notify us of the termination in time for us to increase May's amount! So, now it will be June before we can see an increase, but dh is back to work, and we will probably not qualify then!

Thanks for letting me whine, and I hope that May is much better for all of you!

Well we got word from hubby's work. They want to go into arbitration. But now hubby wants to just find a new job. Going back there would prob be uncomfortable with his boss. But my question: is him choosing not to go into arbitration be considered as quitting even though they fired him (in writing) 3 weeks ago? Would DSHS cancel our benefits if they considered it as quitting? What about trying to get unemployment? Hubby's union rep prob would help us out with notes explaining what happened. TIA for your help.

Still no paycheck I got a 1 cent deposit that my bank said was their bank making sure the account was good. My Direct deposit can take 1-30 business days to go into my account. All I wanna do is cry!!! I am working, and just feel like i'm working for nothing

Banks are the evil incarnate!

April was pretty good to me: I had my baby with only a four hour labor and about 15-30 minute pushing stage. He's a perfect of a baby as he could be!

We went through some major stress earlier in the month when we got notice we had to be out of the house before April 24 (due date April 22, baby born on April 26). We worked something out and we now have until the end of May, but it's still stressful to think about moving with four kids, one being a newborn. However, we will make it work somehow. I hope May is OK to everyone!

I wish I had advice for you, is contacting a lawyer for the freebie consult an option?

Pretty sure that's illegal, I think they have to make the funds available within 5 days of deposit. Is it the bank or the employer thats holding it up?

Congrats! Babies are always a nice thing to get

Well for us I'm a bit wary of May, its the 1st day and only 8:30am and we've had 3 accidents already this morning and I got to get out of bed to the loud sound of a big crash The good news last night I was able to order the rear baskets for my bike so we'll be able to carry 3 paper bags worth of groceries (were car free) and it killed me but I bought a kick @ss chain lock for my bike but the price, ugh! My bike is not a cheap one so its worth it.

sigh... make that 4 accidents this morning and its now 8:45am...

Were going back to the hospital for a couple of days this month and man, its taking a major chunk of out the budget between car rental, ins, lodging and gas not to mention the fast food I know we'll end up eating. I could put in a very nice yard for what I'm spending sigh... chants to self... its still cheaper then owning a car.. its still cheaper then owning a car.. wish there was someone I could just give gas money to take us but its 170 miles and 2 nights away so no go.

Despite my complaints though, I am grateful that we have the money this month to cover all this stuff even if we'll be down to zero by the end of the month we CAN cover the bills again, its a nice feeling I even managed to order a new bike for dd's 4th birthday (New! Not from the thrift store but NEW!). Its been wonderful the past month to not be under such financial strain.

sigh... anyone want to adopt a 3 yr old? Its gonna be a long day with her....

ok, I'm off to go find something enjoyable to do in hopes of changing some vibes around here or at least the ones coming from me because this morning has officially sucked

So I took dd and ds for their first walk this morning in the thrift-store double stroller someone bought for me for $15 (a deal I am SURE I will never find again) and while I was arrying dd inside (we have a 4-step stoop that the stroller can't navigate) the stroller got stolen out of our front yard. It was literally 4 feet from the door and I was inside all of 5-10 minutes to bring the kids in and lay dd down.

I do have a homemade wrap, but that's not the point!!!! Plus ds was so excited about using the new stroller and now it's gone. And this morning I heard shooting again..... there was a drive by a week ago and I've been hearing more shooting lately in what looks for all appearances like a quiet neighborhood....

We have learned that we won't see a full paycheck until the 20th!

Begging the Lord to help our few dollars in the bank go a LONG way this month!!!!

Hey there.

Am new to this thread. I know this site is for mom's... and while I don't have any kidlets of my own, I know I will one day. I get a lot out of this site - I love green, frugal, modest living... and this is a whole site of like-minded people!!

I'm on disability (thru the canadian gov't) which isn't much, let me tell you. I'm thankful for it, nonetheless. It pays my rent and most bills. Groceries and anything else on top of that, I have to find my own way to pay. I take in sewing and house-sit for people. I might not be able to afford the new computer that I'd really like, but I have yet to go hungry. Still, my shoes need replacing (huge holes in 'em) and I'm not sure how I'm going to buy groceries mid-month since I don't have any jobs booked.

Its nice to know that I'm not alone in my lack-of-money.

Hi mamas.. I've been inactive on MDC because I'm in the middle of finals and moving! We are moving THIS WEEKEND! I can't wait to get out of my MIL's house

DH is working out of town, so he's not going to be here to drive the truck or help load the truck, but my MIL's church people are helping us.

May is going to be excellent. April is over and I have to think positive. May is the start of summer for us and dang it, DS and I are going to have FUN. Well, I'm still looking for a job, doing all the same things, but the water is warming up at the waterpark so we can finally start to use our seasons passes. (long since paid for and obtained)
I've decided to sub for another year. I really need to put some distance between that horrid student teaching experience and looking for a teachign job. Plus I need to build up some references. I will put out applications in some other school districts to sub for 10-11 school year.
Im still dealing with some mental health issues, and I fear a full time teaching job could 'push me over the edge' but subbing is fine.

This summer is going to be great... ds has 4 weeks of camp in june, he has scholarship money for the 3 week camp, the 1 week camp is long since paid for. july is open, aug is open.... waterpark here we come.....

Yay, it's over! April was a pretty crummy month, around here!

May? Well, so far so good? I just got a call to check my availability for training for a new job, so that was a good way to start the month off. I've been burned enough times that it feels a little surreal, but I figure that will wear off with time. Oh my gosh- I might have more than $20/month above the bare minimum again! How nice would that be!?
