I'm doing some looking on Yahoo Answers to kill time & I could almost cry at the a question about UC & getting a birth certificate ...

some of the answers:

"I hope your birth is safe and your baby doesn't come out with the cord around his/her neck like mine did. If I hadn't been in the hospital she would have died."

"DARWIN AWARD FOR YOU MY DEAR.
at least have a midwife their or talk to one.
So much can go wrong. You can die, and than where would your baby be. oh i know without a mom.
You can have that natural drug free at home with a MIDWIFE"

"I also wanted a "natural" birth then I had to have a c-section. I think you should have a midwife by your side at least. If I hadn't had a c-section, my son wouldn't have come out alive."

It's so sad that people listen to the medical community like this... and listen to people who think our bodys are flawed when it comes to child birth.

Here's to sites like this (and others) sharing the truth about home birth & UC ~ maybe one day it will be more accepted.

In case it was your question this is a useful link in how to obtain a BC for a UC http://www.homebirth-usa.org/baby/birth-cert.html

I stay away from yahoo answer because I can't stand the stupid things being asked let alone the stupid answers for the most part. It fries my brain too much.

Thanks for the link ~ but I wasn't really on yahoo answers for real answers .... I just like to browse to see all the strange questions and even crazier answers people give on there.

i never look at yahoo answers either.

it seems obvious to me that our culture sees birth as a medical event, and that anyone who doesn't is crazy or stupid. so, i'm not surprised.

Those responses are sad. :-( I try to post answers on Yahoo Answers as often as I can so people get responses from more than just sheeple. lol

As for cords around their neck, all of mine had cords too, my c-section babies had to be unwound. lol Luckily, the docs never tried to scare me about that crap.

I read a quote somewhere, can't remember who said it, and now my very pregnant brain can't even remember the whole quote, but if was something about - smart babies wrap their cords around their necks to keep them out of the way. Sorry I totally butchered it, if anyone knows the quote I'm talking about please correct me!!

I don't go to Yahoo Answers much, but when I do, it is just for fun, to see what idiotic comments people make.

perhaps they think that there is a special "untying" procedure or "cord machine" the doctors have that they ca't possible do themselves os they assumed their baby would die without it.

seriously... just once I want to ask a person like that what they think a cord is made from? steel? it's gushy and slippery - it slips right off. and if it didn't for some reason.... well, ya got scissors don't ya? lol
