Toddlers needing more TLC when using the potty more?

My daughter is 26 months old, and we’ve been doing “potty learning” for quite a while—really trying to listen to her and wait until she’s ready. (Basically we have a potty chair and we’ve been asking her periodically if she wants to use it…if she says “no” then we tell her that it’s fine and move onto a different subject.) She pretty much said “no” for the last 7 months ha ha…but suddenly she’s saying “yes” and is getting excited about it.

The question I have is this: we are also noticing that she’s needing some more support at night. Just wanting us to rock her more, and getting very upset when we don’t. (Normally she’s able to get to sleep by herself when we put her in the crib, but lately she’s been crying when we do that.) She’s never been a co-sleeper (much to my sadness, she’s slept better in her own space than with us since she was about 4 months old). Has anyone else noticed their kids needing some extra TLC once they’re more consistent with the potty?

I haven't seen anyone mention that, but it'd make sense, sort of being a bit scared of the new skill that makes them a "big kid"? Good for you noticing! If it is that, the need for extra comfort should go away as pottying becomes familiar.
