Do any of your LO's have outie belly buttons??

Hello

I'm talking about like a REAL outie belly button. Not just an inbetweenie that only sticks out partially, but an outie. This little guy has a very outie belly button. It's really big and sticks out FAR! It actually looks like a real button!

Do any of your LO's have an outie that is even remotely similar to this?? Just curious. If yes, I'd like to see a picture LOL! Right now, it seems like he's the only one who has a belly button like this.

Well, I used to nanny for a little boy who was born waaay too early, so he had a belly button surgically made for him - looked almost exactly like a button! And one of my friends had a herniated belly button that literally stuck out three inches. She had it operated on when she was three, but not before she attempted to "pee" with it, standing up, like she'd seen her daddy do!

As a thin child, I had a waaaay outie. I hated it. It doesn't stick out anymore because I have gained so much weight. But, if I lose 20 lbs, it probably would.

Again, I hated it. All my life, I hated it.

My dd has a small one. One day she said it looked like the pointy end of a pencil & it honestly did. It was back to normal the next day. She had her annual a few weeks later so I asked my dr about it. He said all outie belly buttons are small hernia's & unless it got big they wouldn't do anything about it.

My DD does, but her abs don't quite meet in the middle, there is a space (I forget the term for it) and I read that it will resolve itself by age 4 but she's 4 now and it's still like that. Her belly button sticks out more at some times than others, because of the separation between her abs.

I think he's mistaken. Ds2 had an outie, but it gradually became an innie & you can't tell now it was an outie. Hernias don't just disappear on their own.

Ds3 also has an outie. I hope it goes in like ds2's did, poor kid already has a massive birth mark on his bum, he doesn't need 2 "weird" things, but it's still not showing any signs of going in. Maybe later I'll try to get a pic.

I asked a ped about that and they said no, not all outies are hernias. DD's is a small one, though.

mine's an outie. its different now that i've had a couple kids and my skin got all stretched out funky, but its definitely still out! as a teenager i was actually able to button my jeans with it.. this served no function other than to amuse friends/family with my trick. i hated it when i was a kid and wished I could cut it off but now i don't care.

I swear my dd gave herself an outie! It used to be an innie, but she reached in and PULLED on it constantly from the age of about one, and now at age four she has a semi-outie.

Actually, most umbilical hernias do just that and usually by age 5.
