Fitted bedsheet question...

OK sewing mamas, here's one for you. (Maybe this should go in the Frugal forum...?) I found a beautiful set of sheets for a smokin' deal, but my bed is a queen size, and the sheets are full sized! Of course, they only had the one set - I like the sheets so much that I would have shelled out the extra money for the right size if they had them. I brought them home anyway, hoping against hope, but of course the fitted sheet doesn't fit. I don't wanna return them!!!

Any ideas on how I might doctor the fitted sheet to make it work? If it makes any difference, it is a "deep pocket" type sheet. I know it's silly, but I *really* like them!

My inclination would be to convert the fitted sheet to a flat sheet and use your other fitted sheets with the pretty new sheets. Most of the time, you don't see the fitted sheet any way and if you had TWO of the pretty new sheets you'd see them more often.

Thanks! I think I've decided to keep them and either take your suggestion to convert the fitted to a flat sheet, or else use the fabric to make something else - some throw pillows, quilt pieces, or maybe even pajama pants!

Oooh, pajama pants, or pillows, cute!

I have used a flat sheet for the quilt back, cut pieces of the fitted for in the quilt, curtain ties, a valance and throw pillows, then the pillowcases for pillowcases.
