ds is having minor surgery- help me prepare him

my teenaged ds is having a suspicious birthmark removed in a few weeks. we are using a plastic surgeon and he will be under general anesthesia. we have gotten more than one opinion and decided that the chance of it turning cancerous during puberty is enough to justify the risks of removing it. so, technically it is elective surgery, but depending on the results of the biopsy, i may end up being quite necessary.

anyway, i am hoping to get some advice on what i can do prepare him for a speedy healing after the procedure. we have a huge list of meds and herbs to avoid, but are there any foods or homeopathics we should be giving him to build him up?

what about after? i have considered using raw honey on the scar to speed healing. how soon after should i begin applying it? the dr. said he would be doing 3 layers of sutures, so i imagine he will be cutting deep.

thanks in advance for any wisdom you can share!

I had a reduction last may (so major surgery...but surgery non the less) and I really found the bromelaine and arnica tablets (homeopathic) were great with the healing.
