I think so, but I do admit to a strong maternal bias.
He was a lot more haphazard about training until this year. This year, he got serious.

Too bad about New Orleans. We planned a vacation there one year almost 20 years ago - before kids. Then DH's boss wouldn't give him the time off. We've never managed to go, so I really can sympathize. Banff is awesome though!!
I'd actually been thinking of Banff for our family vacation this year. As I think this might be ds1's last year of camping with the rest of us, we'll do something else. He's going in a coule weeks, so I think going again in the summer would lose some impact. Fortunately, BC is loaded with beautiful vacation places.

I'm not all that gung-ho about going to New Orleans, but dh would love to, and I'm sure ds1 would have been blown away.

My DS is starting his season of Machine Pitch today His first practice is at 7 PM tonight. We are all going to walk over to the park and watch him play. I am excited!

My kids are free to choose, but I try to restrict it to no more than 2 at a time. More than that becomes a scheduling nightmare. Actually 2 kids x 2 activities = a scheduling nightmare.

I try to get one 'art' and one 'sport', but I'm not too anal about it.

Right now, ds (9) is doing baseball. It's the first sport he's ever asked to do, and so we let him do it. No one told me it was going to be a full time job! Holy cow, they have games or practice 4-5 nights a week. He also does his school's afterschool program (totally optional). As part of that he does theater, geography and leadership club. He refuses to do any music of any sort.

Dd (5) is doing t-ball (because her brother is doing baseball and she had to join), and piano. She's very musical, and I want her to continue music of some sort. She's also a joiner. If it were up to her, she'd do: gymnastics, dance, swimming, piano and girl scouts. I'd like her to do a children's choir when she gets old enough, so for her it's a matter of narrowing it down. We'll probably do dance or gymnastics over the summer and a week or two's worth of swimming.
