pre-period brown spotting - Midwife visit warranted??

Since Friday, I have been spotting once or twice a day brown/black blood, enough to wear a pantyliner. The first day, there was a tinge of pink. I'm not due to start my period until the 14th - 17th. My cycles have been running 28-31 days. I usually start bleeding sometime around the new moon and ovulate sometime around the full moon. We are not TTC, but I use no method of chemical or barrier birth control. We wouldn't be disappointed if a little one came along, but I really don't think that is what this is after looking into the method we have been using.

Today, I feel really bad. I have a headache all up the back of my head that is very intense. It is horrible the more I move my body. I've been irritable these last days. Something is up. Not sure if it warrants a trip to the midwife. It's kind of hard for me to go to the doc - alot involved. Do you think it is a good enough reason to go?

I don't have any advice I can give, but just a My cycle has been screwy for the last two months with spotting and bleeding at weird times, so I feel for you.

Hopefully someone has some good advice to give.

Hey, I opened this thread because I've just started having the same problem. I googled pre menstrual spotting and it looks like it's commonly a symptom of PCOS or endometrioisis (sorry if I misspelled).

So, yeah, I think this warrants a visit to a professional. I am going to call my clinic now, myself.

I did that the week after I conceived DS... I'd go and get checked just to be sure

Yeah you could be pregnant of course.

As for me, I'm not. Also it's funny you mentioned irritable because I was so crabby yesterday. It was like I was watching myself from outside my body, going "omg I am SO CRABBY!!"

Fortunately I'm not crabby today, though I feel a little hung out to dry since the clinic is not picking up the phone even though they are supposed to be open. I've tried several times. Maybe I should call the OB's office but I HATE THAT OFFICE. That's why I go to the clinic even though I have insurance and all. But maybe they aren't even equipped to help with endometriosis anyway, I don't know. SIGH.

ivkins - That's what gets me. Everytime something like this goes on, I get offered the pill. The pill makes me nutso. It's not a fix it pill. Our bodies should be able to regulate themselves. If they can't, then there is something amiss. Until the something amiss is pinpointed, then I don't want offered the pill. If I am to use it as a medicine, then I want to know what problem I'm treating with it. YKWIM? OK, sorry to go off, but I've been offered the pill too many times just at random.

laohaire - I hope it isn't endometriosis for you or me. For myself having had 2 c-sections, it is plausible. I'd much rather it be a oopsy baby.

I might be calling them tomorrow, and lugging my gals along.

Me too!!!! Ugh!! It's the worst! 4 days of pink or brown spotting then 5-6 day period! 10 days of yuckiness!!! Not cool. I've been trying to figure out why this is happening to me. I guess I feel a little better knowing that there are others like me. Sorry you have to deal with the same thing.
