DD had her 1st dentist appointment today & she has some tooth decay. Dentist said her teeth should only come into contact w/ carbs 4x a day. He also said to breastfeed her less, but I'm ignoring that suggestion.

I need some low sugar grain free snack ideas. Any ideas?

here is what I have so far...
-cheese cubes
-cashews
-carrot sticks

I've just decided that anything can be a snack food. I give leftover meat, veggies, etc. sometimes.

Here are some of the favorites:
Apple slices (add PB for protein)
Blanched veggies: broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, peppers, cucumber w/hummus
Basically any fruit
omelette w/ cheese and chives
yogurt smoothie
nuts (especially walnuts and almonds)

I'm sure there are more, but the kids are being grumpy.

celery and PB is a great one is you are wanting to have that fun crunch. plus celery is shockingly good for you and the fibrous nature is great for the teeth as well as the body. i have them with almond butter, they can hold about anything. and its holds up well to being made in a few days worth ahead of time

You are definitely smart to ignore the dentists nursing advice.

My oldest grandson had some early tooth decay, and it was discovered that the cause was that his mom was letting him sip on apple juice all day long. The acid was eating at his enamel.

Fruit, cheese, carrots, milk...are all crabs. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0675/is_n1_v10/ai_11729520/ . I am not a doctor, but I would think that complex carbohydrates and grains would be a good thing. For example: the apple instead of apple juice. Here is a list of complex carbs: http://www.weightlossforall.com/complex-carbs.htm
