First Appointment?

What happens at the first appointment? I'll be about 5.5 - 6 weeks. What should I bring with me?

If you are due for a pap, you will likely get one.

otherwise, the usual checkup stuff (height/weight, blood pressure, pulse), plus a short history (have you been abused? do you drink? have you done any illegal drugs? does anyone in your family have *names of various diseases*? Date of last menstrual period? How long do your cycles tend to be? How old were you when menstruation started? List any hospitalizations/surgeries you have had)

other than your insurance card if they dont have it or need it, I dont really think theres anything you need to take.

How much time you'll have and how much you get to chat depends somewhat on your practitioner (OB or midwife?) but in addition to all Maeryn said, I'd write out any questions/concerns you have so far or in general and bring that.
