DDCC
Echo Lee? First thing I think of is E. coli. To be honest, I don't like it at all. Yes, it also makes me think of the Greek myth (girl), but that was not a story with a happy ending. But look at the meaning. Is that what you want your kid's name to signify? Someone incapable of original thought, always repeating what others say? Not something I would pick. |
But the rest of this post is making me
I know some people name their kids strictly based on the meaning of names...but I'm not one of them. A cool meaning is a bonus, but not an end all be all for me. The sound and feeling of a name is much more important. I didn't name my DD Lyric because I thought she was just a word. The name Echo to me has music connections since DP is the lead singer in a band and echo actually comes into play a lot in our lives as a musical word. Also, when I pull that meaning out, I still don't picture what you do. I actually see someone standing on the top of a huge mountain with nothing in sight but a beautiful sun set and other mountain tops, screaming or singing at the tops of their lungs and delighted to hear their simple echo in return. It feels pretty spiritual and enlightening to me. Not at all signifying a lack of individuality. I'm not trying to be overly defensive, I do appreciate your opinion and if this is the image most people will get THAT is actually something that might bother me enough to not chose the name.

I may never get to use it, but for some reason I'd like to hold onto it 'just in case'.
And thanks to all those who pointed out the mythology thing. It seems lots of people will have a strong feminine association with the name.
hahaha. If we settle on a first name other than Echo, we may end up using it as a middle name.
