Infant neck yeast infection

My five-month old son has a yeast infection on his neck, and the pediatrician recommended an over-the-counter anti-fungal cream (Cloprimazole 1%).

I prefer to use something natural, especially since it will be applied topically and absorbed into his skin.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I suppose you could try grapefruit seed extract, as can be used to treat nursing thrush. (You cut it with water -- I don't remember how much, you'd have to google.) But if it's really raw that might sting.

All Purpose Nipple Ointment comes to mind as possibly safer, but it's not natural either. But it's considered safe to let a nursing baby get it in his mouth, so at least if your baby eats it that would be less of a worry than some commercial not-ok-in-your-mouth product.

do you mean the back of the neck or the fat rolld under the chin? if you mean under the chin, this is what worked for a friend of mine: she cleaned the area with bronners baby mild soap, rinsed and rinsed and rinsed, then stuck a thin baby washcloth under there to really soak up the moisture. after about 10 mins, she took out the washcloth and slathered on plain stonyfield yogurt. a few days of this and the redness was gone and the raw skin was completely healed.

GL!

hope you find something that works for you.
if no, it might make you feel better to know that my babe had the same thing and i did the otc stuff and only had to apply it once before it went away completely.

My daughter has small rash in the same area -- how can I tell if it is yeast or not?
Thanks!

its raw and red and it stinks. i just thought it was a heat thing until my very experienced SIL smelled it and said "yep, yeast, get some jock itch cream."

I'm having pretty good luck w/burts bees diaper ointment. looks and smells kinda funny but seems to be healing it nicely. My ped gave us nystatin in a greasy base which made it soooo much worse.

California Baby tea tree and lavender shampoo was the only thing that worked for us! Best wishes!
