Only nursing on one side per feeding? - Page 2

I was worried about this too! Good to hear it's OK. I thought it made me lopsided but DH assures me I was always a bit lopsided...

Add me to the list of one-siders! The only downside has been that as DS has been eating more solids, I sometimes get a bit engorged on whatever side has been neglected the longest. No biggie.

DS often just nurses on one side. For a while he'd nurse on both sides, but that may have been tied to a growth spurt. I usually offer both sides, but I always wait until he pulls off the first side on his own. If he arches his back and bites me, I take that as a sign that he has had enough. Interestingly, he'll always take both sides before bed, and often in the middle of the night - like he knows to tank up at those feedings.

This is why I never switch sides mid-feeding, too. I think it's actually the smarter way to BF, at least in the early days when the babe really needs that hindmilk.
