Flower experts!

I don't do flowers I have a few token ones in my front garden ad I have decided they need to go! I just want to move them to the "other side" I have tulips, that are in bloom now, day lilies, that are just starting to do the green grass growing, and these purple spikes that are totally dormant. They don't bloom until summer after the day lilies I believe.

Anyways, can I move these buggers? I would like to keep the purple spikes and the tulips. The day lilies..... they can go, they grow in ditches around here.

I'm zone 5 in southern Ohio

Now is a good time to transplant most perennials. I'm not sure what your purple spikey things are - I can think of a few things they might be (lavendar? salvia? lambs ears?), and now is as good of a time as any to try moving them. Just try to get as much of the root mass as possible.

For tulips, it is best to wait until mid summer or fall when they've gone dormant again. You could try moving them now, but they may not bloom next year.

As for the ditch lilies, just wanted to put in a plug for them as an edible, if you are primarily a food gardener. The buds, flowers, and shoots are delicious, and in your yard you'll know they're spray-free!

Thanks for the tulip info! I will do that!

I do eat lilies from the garden (we have loooots) I keep dividing them and moving them all over. Thats why I don't mind if a few go.

The purple things are the ones that start blooming at one end (the bottom?) then move to the top. The leaves are narrow. They aren't lavender or lambs ear, I know what both of those are I googled a pic of salvia, and I don't think that's it either.
