Road trippin'

Hiya. We have only ever used cloth diapers on on our three month old. This weekend we're going on a road trip and have been discussing getting some G-Diaper inserts for the trip. Does anyone know if we can just use our Bummis Whisper wraps with the g-diapers or do you need their special wraps?

Thanks!

alternatively, if anyone has any other suggestions for what to do on a road trip I would love to hear them. i really don't want to use disposables.

thanks!

How long are you going to be gone? What kind of dipes are in your stash? Do you have enough dipes to get through the length of the trip without washing? Will you have access to washing facilities?

For weekend trips, I just pack the cloth.

we mostly use prefolds and also have a few bumgeniuses and do have a two day supply. There will be a washer at the destination but at home we have a sprayer attachment on the toilet for the poopy diapers. i guess it's just time to learn to rinse them in the toilet like our mothers did, isn't it? i guess i'm worried about a poop happening early on in the day and having to spend the next six hours in a car with it in the diaper bag.

You rinse your dipes at 3 mos? My guy is 6 mos and we don't rinse... his poos are still completely liquid/paste. You don't need to rinse until the poos start being formed, when they start solids. Until then, they dissolve just fine in the washer.

and a good cold or two rinse before the wash does the trick. DH is not a master of the diaper sprayer so when he deals with poo diapers I just do a short cold wash/cold rinse then our regular diaper wash... everything comes out clean. I rarely have needed to use out diaper sprayer.

I say take your cloth just make sure you have a huge wet bag. We travel a lot and I have never used sposies. Just make sure you have enough to get you from point A to point B that has a wash facility. Also, I am cheap so when we use a laundromat I always do my 'rinse' by hand in the bathtub that way I can just go straight to the hot wash/rinse.

G-daiper inserts are a waste of money, imo.

Just bring your prefolds and a big wetbag. I agree with the pp, you don't usually need to use a diaper sprayer for a 3month old's poop. Try it at home first with just a cold rinse first and then the full wash.

OMG! I could not imagine trying to spray off my almost 5mo dd's runny poop. No way about the toliet dunks! I plan to keep using cloth on vacations this summer. When she gets more solid poop, I plan on getting some liners.
I used g-diaper inserts 3 years ago when they first came out. Maybe they are better now, but they always leak for my ds. That would be no fun in a carseat on a road trip.
