Child bike seats and taking the bus

Do you need to remove attached child bike seats when loading your bike on a city bus?

In our city if child seats are securely fastened to the bike frame then you do not need to remove them.

Our bus bike racks are the type that fold down from the nose of the bus and there's a locking arm that secures the front tire. There's space for two bikes and enough space between them to accomodate a child seat on the back.
