TF and pregnant mama's thread - Page 3

I've been lurking too (only about 7 weeks along) but just had to say THANK YOU Metasequoia for posting that .

I had been doing pretty well, mostly grain free, loads of good fats and liver etc too and for the last couple of weeks have been exactly the same as you...craving carbs constantly....and really not feeling like eating meat, which is VERY weird for me! Really nothing sounds good to me at the moment!

Am just going with it for now and trying to make as healthy choices as possible, but with the nausea and a boisterous 2 year old to deal with I can't afford to not eat. Will definitely try to get back on track once this phase passes though!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Don't have much time, but I wanted to add that I only threw up THREE times this pregnancy! With all of my others, I threw up all day, every day until nearly 20 weeks. The only difference is that this has been my first pregnancy without gluten. I've been GF for over 2 yrs now. I've also heard that gluten can cause oversupply problems, which I've had with every baby (resulting in engorgement, mastitis, plugged ducts, etc.) It'll be interesting to see how it goes this time around.

Zenzero, I've heard it's pretty common in the first trimester to crave carbs, even if you're a die-hard low-carber.

Hello! I am so glad this thread is here... I REALLY need some support, right now. Just found out I am nearly six weeks along with my third baby. We had been doing pretty well with TF for a long while, but I would say the last eight months or so has been a crap chute. While we've got great meat, egg and dairy sources, we have been eating way to much non-TF grains and way more potatoes than I care to eat. Potatoes due to trying to cut out wheat, which I am sensitive too. Sad thing is... I don't want to eat meat right now. When I do it makes me feel SICK! I want creamy pasta, and that's about it. Greasy fried potatoes is probably second on my list of things I am hungry for. Chocolate milk is my saving grace today... Thank all that is good that I have good raw milk.

I can't cook right now... I really can't. And our budget is just about non-existent. So I have a freezer FULL of pastured pork, but I DO NOT WANT TO COOK IT. *bleh* Not to mention that I don't want to eat it. Question... If I have a relatively substantial fat store, is it okay to just not eat much at all in the first trimester until this crappiness subsides? I am only half joking. We really don't need to be indulging in crap right now, my kids can't be consuming all this junk just because I have hormonal cravings. I just don't want to eat right now... Not if the only thing I want is garbage. But the question comes up... What in the heck do I feed my kids if I don't want to cook? I am having a weird bum-feeling few days.

Well my diet went down the toilet so to speak.

I have felt awful and have a really short list of foods that I can eat. Pasta (with tomato sauce and parmesan), fruit, muesli with yoghurt. I was on toast with cheese for a while, but no longer. Oh, and anything with potato.

I so wanted to keep up with my grain free - but I just cannot handle the smell of meat, eggs and most vegetables.

I hope this all calms down and I can go back to a viaried and more nutrient dense diet.

I am in the same boat. I feel pretty bad about knowing what is going to nourish the healthiest possible baby, but not really wanting to prepare or eat any of it. It won't last forever. And at least I have really good ingredients to supplement the other crappy stuff I am eating... That gives me a little bit of solace. I don't feel so bad about living off of potatoes when they are absolutely dripping with raw grass-fed butter. I wish I had some good quality chicken livers, because the thought of rumakis made from my fresh pastured bacon sound awesome right now. I am too food-prissy to purchase Tyson livers. *sigh* I wish I were too prissy to buy Pizza Hut.
