Yes, I have a POAS addiction! Just for fun, I thought I'd try an IC HPT while I did another OPK, and they both came out POSITIVE! I'm sure this is a fluke due to the soy, but man, it made my heart skip a beat when I saw it. Here's a picture of the HPT (blue handle) & the OPK (green handle), test lines are on the left again: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...y/IMG_2205.jpg . There's no way I can be pregnant, right? My temps plummeted, I had AF!

I tried doing a quick Google search on it, but couldn't find anything.

Soy isoflavones do NOT mimmic hcg.

Yes, you can still be pregnant... get a better test and double check because the ONLY reason you should ever get a false positive pregnancy test is if you have an hcg shot or something else containing hcg. Soy isoflavones do not.

Tons of ladies in my DDC had what was as heavy as AF bleeding but are now 14-20 weeks along and perfectly fine!

Also, a dear friend of mine should still be pregnant if she went by what she believed was her LMP... but she had a healthy baby boy at 40 weeks.... back in February!

ETA - unless there is any chance the hpt touched the opk... because that can also cause a false positive but I dont think that would be THAT dark if that were how it happened.

Did you put them right next to each other? touching?

35. Can I get a false positive if my pregnancy test touches my ovulation test? Yes! Ovulation predictor tests (OPK's) contain different antibodies than pregnancy tests (HPT's.) If you place a wet pregnancy test too close to an OPK (so that they're touching) the OPK can actually contaminate the pregnancy test and cause 2 lines to appear, even if there is no pregnancy hormone (hCG) in the urine. Um, ask me how I know this . . . If you are a weirdo like me and you like to take HPT's and OPK's at the same time for whatever reason, make sure they are placed where they cannot touch one another!

They might have touched briefly, not sure. I can surely try again, as I have more.

OK, now I'm freaking out; would the soy cause any problems? I can't even think straight right now, my mind is racing!!

It's still quite early yet... I don't think soy could cause a problem?? It will be ok... that's what I had to keep telling myself in the very beginning of this pregnancy.

Did something similar happen to you, or were you just really, really cautious & worried about it?
