"So, are you going to go to the hospital this time?"

I have been asked that a few times with this, my 7th pregnancy, 6th baby, after 2 hospital births, 2 midwife-assisted homebirths, and 1 UC. I guess maybe because we ended up transporting our UC baby (born at 34.5 weeks) at 4 hours PP for breathing difficulties (TTN) that people are assuming that we will just opt to have the baby at the hospital this time to save ourselves the trip??

Okay. Now I am releasing all of that. I blew it all into a big red balloon and then I let it go. I just needed to vent and then move on to more positive thoughts.

This pregnancy is going to be great, I will carry my baby past 37 weeks, and I will have an awesome birth and then go to bed in my own bed with my baby.

I tend to try and give people the benefit... perhaps they are truly just curious as to how you will handle or approach it this time?

I've been asked many variations on that, and my UC went great! But I've gotten, "Are you going to deliver the baby yourself again?" "Are you going to the hospital this time?" "Are you going to have someone there this time?" "Are you doing the bath tub thing again?" (I had a waterbirth in a pool last time)

I guess people think I was temporarily insane when I was pregnant with my now 4 yr. old and maybe I've come to my senses since. Nope, still crazy and planning another peaceful homebirth!

lol, temporary insanity.

I actually asked this from H; "I wonder if I should hire a midwife this time." To which he replied, "why bother, you know what to do." Interesting, last time he was so nervous about the UC...

Anyway, I am considering hiring a midwife because the birthing climate here is so much more conservative than where we were; I wouldn't want to go into a hospital upon a possible transport etc and have had no back up care. I'm still up in the air about it.

Honey-lilac, this recent thread: "Overwhelmingly nervous about a second UC" might be helpful to read. I know that it was for me. I am considering having my naturopath come hang out at the house when I have this baby. I don't want a midwife. However, my naturopath is a homebirthing mama herself, and she has many tricks up her sleeve to deal with PP issues for both mama and baby. And if anything, it would be nice to have someone besides DH to fix a meal, clean up, etc.

I've been asked that too! (After a smooth, uneventful UP /UC.)
