Where to buy family cloth?

Thread Starter
I'm wanting to order some cloth wipes (for family, not babies). I've made my own but am without a machine now and need some more. I'm in Canada so would prefer a Canadian supplier, but will go with what I like best, ultimately. I'd love some made with different patterns/colours.

Please send me your recommendations (I've been perusing WAHM forums here but weeding through the cloth diaper stuff to figure out who actually makes family cloth is taking too much time).

TIA

Everyone I know that uses family cloth just uses old cotton T-shirts cut into squares. They don't need hemmed, just cut and washed. A trip to the thrift store for some old T-shirts set up everyone I knew.

Is that not an option? Perhaps I am missing something else about family cloth, but I know several families that have used cut T-shirts as a solution.

Cut t-shirts would likely work just fine. I prefer something thicker though. I actually made my own from cut flannel shirts I bought at a thrift store. I put two squares together and sewed them together at the edges. I'd do it again but I no longer have a sewing machine. I like the way the sewn ones look and just wanted to have some "fancy" ones.

I have bought a lot of pads and wipes from New Moon Pads and have always been very impressed with the quality of the items. I've had them for almost a year and they are still as good as when I got them. She is located in Canada, as well.

What do y'all think of this idea?

DH just got new undies ... I'm trying to figure out something to do with the old ones. I'm planning to cut out the waistbands to use for kids' pjs & such ... would it be just plain wrong to use the fabric cut into squares for family cloth? will I be able to get past the weirdness of wiping my tush with his underwear?

ftr, it's just me who uses cloth - and the baby uses cloth diapers.

not Canadian, but a WAHM that I know and have purchased several things from is wallypop.net. She had several different styles of family cloth.

If I can wipe my bum with the baby's old receiving blankets and not feel weird, I don't think I would have a problem wiping with actual underwear.

I just wanted to update this thread and let you (and anyone else perusing this thread) that I found a great source of family cloth. Moocowmomma on Etsy makes wonderful cloth products for the home and she makes great family cloth wipes. They are smaller than baby wipes and you can choose from some really funky fabrics. I highly recommend her!
