Weight Watchers for April? - Page 2

The nursing points question is an interesting one. With a 2.5 month old, definitely give yourself the 10 points, ellairiesmom! And remember, it's not just free. You should use those 10 on an extra milk serving, 3 extra fruits and veggie servings. There may be an extra protein and oil requirement, I just don't know.

I'm on the fence about my nursing points. I have twins, nursing morning and night. They have a pretty solid nursing session 2 x a day, but they're 26 month olds, easily distracted and sometimes have less than a full session. I give myself 4 extra points - one per kid per session. How do other moms do it? Is this too little?

This week I was really good. Used some of my 35 extra points for a brunch I wasn't really mentally prepared for, but ce la vie. My regret is that it really wasn't good enough to be worth it. If I had been good, I'd have exercised more, but we do what we can, right? This is supposed to fit into our lives, right?

This week's loss: an unsustainable 4.2 lbs. Must be something hormonal going on, making up for last week's gain. Now I just need to keep it there for next week!

Total loss: 14 lbs over 5 weeks.

Down a total of 6 in three weeks!

I lost 0.6 this week. I feel bloated, though I'm not sure why, so I thought for sure I would have gained. I was thrilled to have lost. I'm down 13.8 pounds with 6.2 pounds to go.

I am adoptive nursing a 20 month old and my 4 year old is slowly weaning himself--he didn't ask to nurse when he got up this morning. First time he's ever done that. When I first started WW a few months ago, I decided to use 4 nursing points. I don't know how much milk I'm making for my daughter and my son doesn't take in that much, so 4 seemed good. And it was for a couple weeks. Then I went to meeting one week expecting to have lost another pound or so and only lost 0.2 pounds. I was devastated. I'd been so good. Then I ovulated for the first time since my daughter had been born 18 months before. Eventually I realized that my son had stopped nursing to sleep and the baby was likely taking in less. Their intake was less so I didn't need the same amount of nursing points as I'd been using.

I cut back on nursing points until I got to a point where I was averaging 1 pound loss per week. Actually, I'm not using any nursing points at all. However, my situation is very different from those of you who have young bio-children. I take $100 of medication each month to make milk for my daughter. (When she turns 2, I will stop the $85/month medication. Bummed. bit financially necessary.) I feel a little nervous about how many points I'll need once the baby weans herself. I like to eat. I want to keep using nursing points. Oh well.

thx for welcoming me!

nak

i was without a computer for a couple days last week so i am catching up now.

am using the iphone app this week for tracking points but finding it to be such a pain to put foods in. i know once i get my normal stuff in & saved, it will be easier.

last week started good but ended bad. i feel like i have no discipline at all. had back to back get togethers with girlfriends & kids & i gave in to some temptations there. and i didn't make it to a meeting but this week am def going thurs or fri so i have a real weigh in & officially kick this program off.

we set up our new ellpitical last night so at some point today im going to give it a try.

congrats to everyone who is losing. it is really motivating to read those posts!!!!

Your daily menu?

I was wondering if anyone had a few mins & wouldn't mind sharing a typical menu for your day on WW. I guess I was thinking it could help me come up with ideas to jazz up my day.

I tend to do better with less carbs so I have to keep that in mind of course.

Thx for any ideas!

Very busy day, but I wanted to check in and report a 2 lb loss last week!

Yeah!!!

Still aiming for the healthy guidelines every day. This week I'll try to make WW less of a focus. I'd like this way of eating to become a more sustainable lifetime thing.

After a lose a few more pounds.

And be more active too, fit a walk in here and there.

Hope everybody else is doing well too!

I didn't eat the omelet today, but here's my food for the day:

Breakfast:
omelet made with 2 egg whites and one yolk plus 2 T parmesan cheese and any left over veggies. Also, 2 slices 6g fiber whole wheat toast with a thin layer of all fruit blueberry jelly. Total 4 points. Sometimes I add in 1/2 cup oj for 1 more point.

Snack:
grapes

Lunch:
leftover bean and cheese tostadas, leftover tortilla soup 7 points

Snack:
fruit smoothie with spinach added 1 or 2 points

Dinner:
whole wheat pasta with red bell pepper and basil sauce with parmesan cheese. Corn on the cob (my son wanted that.) The baby ate all the blackberries before I could get to them: 6 or 7 points

I really like the Weight Watchers cookbooks. The recipes are really good.

The way I grocery shop is I make a menu for the week's dinners then buy the groceries based on what I need for all those dinners. Plus I buy our normal breakfast stuff. Lunch is usually leftovers or I might make a pot of cauliflower soup that's only 1 point a serving. When I'm planning out the week's menu, I'll sit in a chair with all my cookbooks and just look through them to see what sounds good. Here are some books I really like:

This isn't weight watchers. It has nutritional info except it doesn't tell you fiber. Still, the recipes are great:

Hi everyone!

I have been doing ww since last July. I'm down 35lbs, with 10lbs to go.

Problem is I have been stuck here at this weight for the past 4 months. A bad plateau.

My leader isn't really giving me many suggestions at this point as to how to break it. I'm pretty sure my portions are correct, and I exercise several times a week.

I take 5 pts for nursing my son- who is 28 months old. is this too many points?

Anyone here been on a long plateau? How did you break it? Any ideas for me to try to break mine?

I am getting really frustrated.

I am adoptive tandem nursing my 4 year old bio and my 20 month adopted. I've never been quite at full supply for her (close, but always needed supplementation.) When I started WW I took 4 nursing points. That was fine for a few weeks. Then my son stopped nursing to sleep. I stopped losing weight. I dropped all nursing points and started losing weight again.

I think 5 points is for people who have a 10 month old who is still nursing a lot and eating a little. I'd drop the 5 points if I were you. At 28 months he's hardly taking in anything. If you find you're losing too much weight or if your supply seems to lessen (which, really, at this point you don't have much supply) then add in a point or two and see what happens.

Sunday- thank you for your quick reply. Its funny, no one has yet suggested I drop those. I'm going to do that starting tomorrow. My ds does nurse a lot- multiple times a night, and multiple times a day...he probably nurses as much as a 10 month old But I think you might be on to something in regards to dropping those points. I kind of feel like an idiot for not thinking of dropping them myself.

It makes sense to me for you to drop them all. When you get to goal and go towards lifetime I think, though I'm not sure, they have you add 4 points a day to keep your weight stable. That tells me, to lose weight you should drop 4 points beyond the amount that keeps you stable. At least that makes sense to me.

That makes sense, Sunday. I dropped the 5 pts today, so we will see how it goes! Thank you!

Have you noticed a difference?

I'm 5 weeks on WW today, have lost 8 lbs, only had one bad off the wagon (though it lasted 3 days). I'm happy. 16 more to go.
