Ear Infection????

Hey Gang,

My DH and My 7 yr old DS who has only had the flu maybe 3x in his life got sick with sore throats, fevers and headaches on Sunday. My ds started complaining about ear pain on wednesday but his fever had already broken. This evening he laid down and took a nap and woke up with his ear draining. He is still complaining about pain and the drainage is a clear sticky fluid..no pink or brown or red..I am not sure what to do at this point, none of my kids have ever had ear infections..we all rarely get sick. Should I take him into urgent care in the morning or wait it out til monday and see if the pain stops?

Usually when an ear drum bursts that releases the infection and pain. His fever is gone? He's still in pain? Is the other ear infected? It's unusual (to me) that he's still in pain yet has no fever (so we assume no infection in the other ear) and a ear drum that's draining (so pressure relieved).

I don't understand it either! I am going to take him in this evening. I cannot stand seeing him in pain.

So it turned out that he had an outter ear infection with a lot of fluid buildup..They gave him amoxicilin and ear drops and said he should be feeling better in a couple days
