Alameda County Mommas

Hi!

Is anyone else interested in an Alameda County Attachment Parent Playgroup?

I'm moving to Hayward over the course of the next 2 or 3 weeks, (from the peninsula where I've lived for about a year, since moving from Tucson) and would love to meet other mommas in the area. I have a 20 month DS, Rowan.

Does anyone want to do next week, say on Thursday? I'll let other momma's suggest locations as I'm new to the area and have no idea what the best parks are. I know Alameda County is big so I was thinking that once things get going if a lot of people from all over are interested in the group, we can move it around.

I have lots of questions about living in the East Bay like, good health food stores, good yoga studios, what the commute across the bridge is really like (for any of you who do it or have partners who do it).

Here's to hoping there are some other interested parents out there!

Welcome to the east bay! I'd be up for getting together. I'm free on Friday. My daughter is 14.5 mos. I'm in Berkeley. There is an AP meetup but a lot of their meetings are east towards Walnut Creek - though I do think they may have some get togethers down in your neck of the woods.

Just wanted to give you a tip on health food stores. Check out the new Berkeley Bowl West. It's a fantastic mix of health food brands and mainstream brands with a HUGE produce section - 1 that is organic and a larger section that is not. Also, Monterey Market in Berkeley has fantastic produce at super cheap prices. They are a drive for you but possibly worth it here and there. I save so much money by shopping at Monterey Market. I'm lucky that it is near my house but I would probably drive back if I moved away. I'm sorry that I don't know about anything closer...though I do think a new Whole Foods opened in Oakland recently.

Welcome! I would love to get together, although my son (also a Rowan!) is just 2.5 months.

If you are in Hayward, there are several places for healthy food nearby. The cheapest is of course, Trader Joes. There is a huge one in Alameda, right off the 880. There is also a food court-style place in Alameda with several vendors sharing one building: organic produce, a meat counter, a fish counter, etc. It is on Park Street. I think its called Alameda Natural Marketplace or something...

Berkeley Bowl West is great, if you wanna travel that far. Closer, to you is either Farmer Joe's (there are two- closer to the 580, either 25th Avnue or Fruitvale exits) in Oakland.

Thursdays are good for me!

Vegan Princess- I was a member of the AP group on meet-up, but I think I erased my account, I'll have to check it out again now that I'll be about 15 miles closer to all the meet-ups.

Lillitu- Yay for Rowans!

Would Friday work for both of you, can one of you recommend a park? I'll be coming all the way from San Mateo as we haven't yet moved.

Oy, I messed up the car schedule with hubby and won't have a car for the rest of the week. Perhaps we could wait until next week and there will be more interest and a bigger group as well. Not that bigger is always better!

Does next Thursday work?

I'm definitely interested - I've been looking for a group to get together with. I've been housebound for far too long (since I got pregnant). My little guy is almost 7 mos. I'm available any week day.

I'm free next Thursday morning until around 11ish. Makenna usually naps around noon to 2 then I have something scheduled for after.

Does 10 next Thursday sound ok to everyone, or does that cut it too close for you Vegan Princess?

Would one of you mind suggesting a park?

I only know of parks in Berkeley. There is a fantastic park called Totland where people have left tons of toys - ride on, trucks, baby activity gyms, play kitchen, etc. Plus it's bright and cheery. It's at Virginia and McGee. That would be my suggestion. And if we go there, 10am is fine bc it won't take me long to get Makenna home. Of course I am open to going elsewhere - just don't know where that would be.

There is actually an upcoming meetup in the East Bay AP group at my house in Fremont! It's on the 25th.

Next Thursday at 10 am at the Tot Park in Berkeley sounds good to me. I may even try to ride the BART depending on how adventurous I am that morning.

RightKindOfMe- I'll definitely have to sign un for the meet-up group, and Fremont is so close to Hayward! Too bad we're moving next weekend and won't be able to make it to the meet-up, some other time for sure!

The park is just a few blocks from the N. Berkeley bart station - super easy from there!

I won't be able to make it. I had a VERY unrealistic idea of what the week before our move was going to be like. It has been much more work and running around than I thought, and I have to be in Hayward at 10:30 for a fence installation, then go to Lowe's to order new doors, and the list goes on and on!

We'll have to try again!

Hi ladies, can we try for this week? The weather says that Thursday and Friday will be dry. I'm up for the drive to Berkeley to totland, anyone else wanna go? Does 9:30 or 10 work?

I can't make it this week. Have fun!

I can't make it this week, but I am very interested in joining a playgroup. We are moving back to Berkeley (from the coast) in August. I have a 20mth old son and 3 year old daughter. I would be willing to make the drive, if it meant i could start forming relationships now!

I'd be interested in coming down to totland for a meet-up. I moved to Berkeley a little over a month ago, and I am anxious to make some Mama friends! I have a 16 month old son. Let me know what day works!
