Go with what you want!!! 
I really wanted a doula for my 1st, but my midwife and my ex talked me out of it. I really regret that I didn't have one there. My midwife had another lady in labor at the same time, and went to her birth first and then came to mine (this hadn't happened to her for years and years.) She was pretty tired and not fully available until the very end. My birth was a long slowly progressing 23 hrs. I am convinced it would have been shorter had I had a doula there to help me settle into birthing. Ex was great for the most part, but he didn't provide that woman to woman support that I needed.
