TTC after Mirena removal - what do you think?

Alright, here are the facts!

Mirena removal after 18 months, loved it, had no issues with it.
LMP started 3/24
Removal was 4/6
NO spotting or bleeding the day of removal or anything (nor the next day.)
I had some cramping yesterday and had bleeding/spotting. Not enough to fill a pad, only enough to notice when I wiped (pinkish brownish). Stopped completely by this morning.

Sooooooooo -

Ovulation pain (since I would be ovulating around now if it was a normal cycle)? System flush now that the Mirena is out? Implantation bleeding from crazy early ovulation (hahahahaha not likely!)?

Anyone have any experience with Mirena removal? Do I could this as CD1???

I believe it can take a month or two for things to line out. I had a period immediately post removal and it took a month or two for things to line out. (I had the Mirena for four years, no period during most of that time.) I don't think I'd count immediate post-removal spotting as a normal period.

I got pregnant 6 months after removal.

Some women can bounce right back... others can have wacky cycles for 6 months afterward due to the effects it has on your system. (Its pretty traumatic for such a finely tuned system to go through any sort of hormonal birth control, and although Mirena is an IUD it is still hormonal)

So really, its anyone's guess. You are going to have to wait and see...

I wouldn't count it as cd1 until a real flow starts... but that could easily start yet today.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had my Mirena removed 16 Mar, had a very, very light AF that began on the 2nd. If all is well, I should O around Fri. We'll TTC this cycle, but I don't know how it will go.

My Dr. said the average she sees is around 3 months post removal. She said that it can sometimes take as long as a year, but that's fairly rare.

According to the Mirena packet info, you can become pregnant that first month after removal. It took me 11 months after my last depo shot to get pregnant with my daughter. I get my mirena iud out on the 30th, and we're hoping to start trying soon after.

Good luck!

I didn't start bleeding following the removal of my mirena for about two weeks, except some spotting, and my frist AF was really weird. You're probably just going to have to wait and see.

We're crossing our fingers and hoping that a pregnancy doesn't happen before the iud comes out. My iud string is moving around (sucking into the uterus) and I'm having cramping and spotting when I haven't had any since I got it in 3 years ago. So, out it goes before it the strings are lost in the uterus and they have to dilate me.

Btw, how was the pain during removal for you ladies? I got light headed when they put it in, but normally I can handle a lot of pain.

removal is much easier than insertion, pain-wise. easier than a pap smear.

Just an update....

I started having very, VERY heavy bleeding four days after removal. Clots, the works, soaking through everything. After a week of this I went in and had a sono - apparently I have fibroids blah blah, and she gave me Premarin (estrogen) because she knows we want to TTC.

Within 24 hours of taking the Premarin the bleeding was down to the barest trickle!

My sono showed very jagged lining (but mature eggs in my left ovary ) so she advised I wait till after I get my period to TTC. So...that's what I'll do. My LMP was 3/24, so don't know if it will come soonish or if I'll have to wait a little longer, but we'll see!

Also to add - ZERO pain during removal, the speculum was the most annoying part!
