My lochia lasted for about 3 weeks and then nothing and now since last Saturday I've been bleeding bright red and changing pads 4-5x a day. There's been no period type cramps but some gas type pains that come and go. Been having headaches as well, although I may be slightly dehydrated. Should I be concerned? I have also been taking it pretty easy and have not overexerted myself since the birth. I am breastfeeding round the clock as well. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I got my period back around 5 weeks with both of my kids, and so did my sister. Its really not fair because we both EBF. When mine first came back I called the doctor because I was sure something was wrong and there was no way it was my period! but it came every 4 weeks after that. Sorry youre one of the unlucky ones!

It could be a period or it could be a fluke. With my first I had a similar situation. I bleed for about 3 weeks, stopped for a little more than a week and then started bleeding again. It was bright red and my Dr. told me it was my period. It last a little longer than my normal period but after it was gone I didn't have another period until my son was 8 months. So don't know what it was exactly but not a normal period. Since this isn't your first when did you get your period back with your first? In my experience most of the time you typically follow a similar time frame but there is a chance it is your period as well.
