HCG #'s & when to get sono

My doc said to get a sono after 5 weeks. I need to get one for spotting and bleeding that I had which I thought was a miscarriage. However my HCG levels keep going up, so at this time I am still pregnant. After my next blood draw Monday, I will be scheduling a sonogram if my numbers continue to go up properly.

Tuesday my number was 145, Thursday 246. If my number is over a 1000 on Monday then the sono will be scheduled. Do the HCG numbers indicate where a person is in pregnancy and how much someone can see on a sono? If so, at what point could you see a baby and or heartbeat (I know it is usually 6 weeks)?

My last menstrual period was on March 6th however I am sure implantation was late. Right now I am 19-21 days past ovulation and 35 days into my cycle.

No, you cannot determine where you are in the pregnancy by your numbers because there is a HUGE range of what is considered normal.

If you go in and they say they cannot find anything, that would most likely mean it is just too early.

By about 5 1/2 weeks the sac should be visible and by 6 1/2 the heartbeat should (with a few days leeway on either side...)

It doesnt matter about implantation, what matters is ovulation. So to figure out how far along you are, you take ovulation and subtract 2 weeks... thats your adjusted LMP and you can figure your dates out from there.

Though I dont 100% agree with FF on your O date. I think you are safest to just stick with your actual LMP.

I had my first u/s at 5 weeks and a few days and we were *just* barely able to see a heartbeat. It's normal not to be able to see it that early, though.

What day do you think I O'd, CD16? So do I calculate how far I am per O date to get a more accurate dating for the sono? That would mean I am slightly over 2 weeks right?

I'm on my iPod so I can't check but if I remember right your chart has 3 flat temps at o time? If so it could be ANY of those three days. That's why I say to stick with your lmp, though I guess to be safe it's safer to assume cd16 for sono.
