Patent Ductus Arteriosus

Hi,
My baby was full term, but they said this was a lot more common with premature babies. My daughter has this and they want to close it with a heart catheder. I am wondering if anyone had to go through this. Did anyone do anything besides general anesthetic? I was reading today that older kids can just get a suddative instead. She is 3. Would that be less invassive or risky? I am also concerned about all the x-ray she would be exposed to. did anyone do anything different like a camera? Thanks. I thought I would post this here because people here probably have heard of it before. Thanks

Maybe also try posting over in health and healing?

My DS had a HUGE PDA at birth but had a spontaneous closure just as they were starting to talk about surgery.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Post this in Special Needs Parenting. There are tons of heart parents over there!

my daughter had a PDA ligation surgery. I don't think it's quite the same procedure. For the PDA ligation they put small clips in to seal it, and she had to be put entirely under for the procedure.
