I have never been tested for allergies, but am fairly certain I have pet and seasonal allergies and suspect I may have some food intolerance as well. My sister just found out she is gluten intolerant after having a blood test done at the hospital, as well as an allergy to corn, walnuts and some other things. Anyways, I don't have insurance, and we don't have much money so I can't really afford to just pay out of pocket for a doctor. I have tried elimination diets, but I always end up cheating since I love wheat foods and have a hard time giving them up just based on my suspicions that I might be allergic to them. I found a $50 home test on Amazon, and was wondering if anyone had ever tried such a thing or knows anything about them. It tests for 9 allergens, 3 of them foods, and you just take a finger prick at home then send in the blood to a lab and they e-mail or mail you the results. Is this something worth considering or should I just wait until I can see a doctor in the future?
