Ok...can we talk about fitteds?

Ds2 is not even 3 weeks old and is already approaching 12 lbs. I had expected to get 4 months or so out of our size 0 kissaluvs (I did with Ds1...), but with this ginormous baby, I'm not so sure... thinking I may need them next month. Unfortunately, the vast majority of my stash on bigger sizes was mediums that Ds and Dd never really grew out of... so they both wore the mediums. Needless to say, they're pretty warn out (elastic going and all that), but they're also mostly pocket diapers, and this time I am leaning toward fitteds with wool.

So, hit me with your best/favorite fitteds! I don't think I'll likely need bigger than a medium (especially if it's a brand where the mediums run slightly big) because my kids all sort of started out bigger, but the older two slimmed down substantially after 6 months of age (not that Ds2 will necessarily follow the same track, but I think it's likely), so I guess I'm looking for mediums but would be willing to consider OS fitteds, but I guess I'd prefer not to spend an arm and a leg if it's not necessary? We're also ECing this time, so I'm *really* hoping not to go beyond a medium... So, I guess, what are good (awesome?) in mediums? I'd be willing to go with a variety, too, if you have good suggestions on fitteds for different times...

For fitteds I love valor kids in the small sizes, and bizzybeehive for larger sizes that require more absorbancy.. I know that goodmamas are pretty popular fitteds right now as they are a multisize diaper.

I was just coming to ask the same question! I was looking at one size, but my LO is 10pds, so maybe I just need mediums, or large 2-size.

OS are more expensive, so that's why I was thinking mediums...

Anyone know if the new kissaluvs v.2 are good? I hear conflicting things about the old sz 1s...

I really really love Tiny Tush Fitteds. My kids are big, but they still fit the almost 2 year old with plenty of room to grow (though, that's not as big a concern for you). They wash well (and 100% cotton, so no worries about stink from MF) and they're very affordable, IMO. I think I get them for about $12 each.

My stash used to be pretty diversified, but I literally only use Tiny Tush now, with the exception of a BG at nighttime on my oldest.

The Mother Ease fitteds are very good. Either the one size (which should fit about now) or the Sandies (smalls fit to 20 lbs). I'd be tempted to get one of each and see which one fits your kiddo better as they are very different styles IMO. They're pretty reasonably priced too I think.

Actually I think 10 lbs is perfect to start onesize.. I don't think onesize fit newborns very well (and in my mind a newborn is 7ish lbs).. 10 lbs would be the smaller end of the onesize..

I did! I loved them, though I had to go up a size in covers to cover the top. But if you're using wool, that wouldn't be a problem.

They were absorbent, trim (although a little "tall" even though they go on about the low rise), and really cute. I had three in my stash that we used from 4 months to just over a year and we used them in rotation daily.

I also really liked cricketts and baby beehinds.

I think I'll end up getting one of a variety of different diapers and then filling in with whichever I end up liking best...

I love my Dream-eze.

I liked my Clovers when my guy was still pretty little, but he filled out in the legs and not the tummy, so the Clovers stopped fitting so well.

I'm not sure you need a Medium yet, though. My little guy still fits in his Small Dream-Eze at 6 mos. He also fits in the Med on the smallest snap setting, but only just. The legs are JUST tight enough to hold in the poo.
We've only recently started phasing out the small dipes and moving into the Mediums, although some brands we're still in the smalls (we were still wearing some NB dipes at 4 mos).

We still use small Little Beetles for instance... but they didn't fit for the longest time (too big). I converted a bunch of no closure LBs to side-snaps (no pin would go through them) - I'm not fond of their front snaps, and their velcro failed way quicker than the dipe itself (converted that one also). We have the hemp ones, and they're great for absorbency - but I wasn't impressed with the durability of their cotton ones (holes after 6 weeks).

Honestly, if you're looking at ECing combined with CDing, then I'd lean towards OS dipes - you'll get more bang for your buck. I like how soft and squishy my Goodmama is, but the BSRB is super trim through the crotch, the Bububebe is great for absorbency (better even than the Muttaquin 3SR), but my fave is the Sustainable Babyish Pin OS, it gives us the best fit (I wouldn't recommend the Baby Beehinds OS or the Little Beetles OS). The one thing I don't like about the OS dipes is that they're all front snapping, which doesn't give us a great fit (tiny tummy, chunky legs). There is one OS dipe with side snaps, but I haven't tried it yet.

One thing about the OS dipes is that you will have to size up on the wool. I use mostly Kozy Wool (which have drawstrings) or hand-knit to fit so it's not an issue, but most OS dipes will have a fluffier butt and a taller rise than sized dipes.

It's late and that's all I'm thinking of...

It's an interesting point, but none of my children have outgrown mediums until after potty training - they're really skinny kids after about 6 months old. Dd is 4 years old and only *just* hit 30 lbs. Ds1 is nearly 3 and is about 28 lbs. Granted, this little guy is much bigger already than the other two were (he's 3 weeks old and already 12 lbs! ) but I'm ok with having to eventually size up if we do. We have loads of little diapers (size 0 kissaluvs and "smalls"), so I won't need that end of the OS diapers, but i'm just not convinced that we'll need the larger sizes in the OS diapers considering the way the other two kids have grown and factoring in the EC (where we might not need them that long). We do have a few OS diapers (though, they're pocket dipes), and while we did use them on their largest size, it wasn't enough of an issue that we *needed* it on the largest size, you know? And mostly I avoided them in favor of the sized diapers

I'm really happy with our meos, sandy's as well as the prefitteds I made. That's actually what I reach for first!

I would consider getting some mother ease one sized to try out. These are DH's faves by far (i still love my prefolds!). Be sure to get the snap in soaker to up the absorbancy. FWIW, my sister has cloth diapered 8 kids and these are the only diapers she uses after the NB stage.
