hey all you ucers. been awhile since i've been on. I have a question about my babies belly button. We had a UC with him 19 months ago and his belly button still doesn't seemed to be healed up all the way. its not bleeding or infected or anything it is just very pink inside and is sometimes moist in there. and not from sweat. Did we cut it too short? anyone else have this? thanks.

I didn't uc but my DD2 belly button was like that for a long time. As long as you didn't cut the skin, in my experience there is a obvious difference in the skin that comes out from the belly and the cord then you are fine, I assume you wouldn't cut the skin and if you did the baby would have cried I'm sure.
With my DD2 it just got better as she got older (she is 21m now and I don't notice it anymore).

umbilical granuloma
My first daughter had what you are describing. (You didn't cause it...it just happens sometimes for no apparent reason.) If you take her to the pediatrician, s/he can either freeze it off with silver nitrate (doesn't hurt, my daughter was 6 months when we had it removed and she didn't cry). I believe their is also a more natural way to remove it, as well. It's not dangerous, but can be fixed easily.

yeah, do a search on the granuloma here and I know of a few who have done the salt method.
