Nursing bras

Thread Starter
I have been breastfeeding for 20 months now and still haven't found The One: the nursing bra designed for larger women, with solid padding for modesty, lightly padded wide straps and a big back with plenty of closures.

See, I know exactly what I need, but I can't find it anywhere! The padding is the biggest deal for me. I know I'm not the only mama who worries about "pokies"! There has to be a good padded nursing bra out there somewhere. I've gone to every nursing specialist around and had countless fittings and consultations and nothing has turned up. =(

Any tips? I don't care what it looks like or how much it costs, I NEED THIS BRA! Lol my darling DS is showing no interest in moving on from breastfeeding, so I'm looking at needing this bra for another year or so. Please, save me from this constant sore back!

New mom here, but in the same boat.

I never found one I was crazy about with DD1. I nursed her for 4 years, and after the regular NIP phase, I just started wearing regular bras.

For this one, I got this bra from Bravado, and I love it:

I'm a 38D, by the way.

Have you considered just wearing a normal bra? I didn't think I could with my first and I was a 34G but I had to in a pinch with my second and it is so much better! I never did find a nursing bra that lasted and gave the proper support. Anita was the closest.

I am in the same boat...my LO is 2.5 weeks and I've been nursing in my regular bra that is too small while I've been trying to find a nursing bra that even fits. My current bra is a 32H and it's too small. I have a little ribcage and ginormous boobs. I think I'm probably a 32J right now, but not really sure.

I've tried all the bras at Herroom.com, they don't make bras past an H-cup and the few that they did make, are not manufactured in a 32 band size. I tried a few nursing bras from Figleaves.com (European site) and they came yesterday and did not fit.

I almost want to give up on breastfeeding because it's so inconvienient to feed in a regular bra because I have to practically undress myself. How do you feed in a regular bra in public? I thought about trying to find some place that would custom-make a nursing bra for me, but don't know where to start.

With a tiny baby nursing in public can be more difficult but as your baby grows and is able to support her own head and body more it will get easier. I find nursing easier, I just pull/fold the cup down or I pull my breast out over the cup of my bra. At first it was a little uncomfortable but really not any worse than a nursing flap.

I was the same. I'm a 30G, I think in American sizes that's a GG or something equally huge. In Spain they don't really do bra sizes and the biggest nursing bra I can get locally is a D. So I had my heart set on going back to the UK at about 3 months and trying on loads of bras to find a nursing bra that fitted. I couldn't try anything on in a store as no one stocked anythign good for a 30. I ordered loads in a few cup sizes. When I tried them on I was so close to crying. I wasn't convinved by soft cup bras anyway, but my nipple was the same height as the band! WTF no support at all. It's so hot in Spain I need underwired to keep my boobs apart or my cleavage would sweat.

So anyway I gave in and paid a couple of ÂŁ for some nursing bra clips and converted some normal bras. Google for jans pages baby crafts. Give in on the regular bras until they come up with something that keeps these puppies northerly. Figleaves do list some nursing bras that are underwired, but I can't face the disapointment of more bras that don't fit. I feel confident, comfortable, plus it's easy to nurse in my converted bras. I just have to make sure everythign's sitting right so the wire doesn't cause duct problems.

I had a hard time finding bras too, my boobs were big before I was pregnant, now they are gigantic. I don't know about padding, but I found really good nursing bras/tanks at Target.com. They are inexpensive and hold up to washing. I have had them for about three months and they are in almost new condition, despite being worn overnight and washed in the machine. I tried wearing underwires, but found them incredibly uncomfortable, and I felt they had an effect on my supply.
