I don't post very much as you can tell from my count, but want to thank you for all the free advice I gleaned here. My baby boy was born last night-- or shall I say this morning? I had been having contractions daily for almost two weeks but they always fizzled. Yesterday, which was my due date, I thought maybe labor could be starting, because the contractions seemed to give more pelvic pressure. But they still weren't very regular. Around 9 pm I realized the contractions were becoming very regular, 8-10 minutes apart, and it wasn't long before they were 5 minutes apart, but still not torturous. Then again I think this had a lot to do with my mindset and preparation. I got in the bathtub at 11 pm figuring if it wasn't the real thing, the contractions would at least slow. At midnight they hadn't slowed but hadn't become too intense, and I hesitated before calling my midwife. I let her know what was happening, and she asked if I needed help getting through the contractions yet. I said no and she said to call whenever I wanted her to come. At 2 a.m. the contractions were becoming much stronger and closer together, so my husband called her. She arrived around 2:30, my husband filled the fishy pool, and I transferred my labor to the pool at almost 3:00. A couple of contractions later my water broke, and at that point I lost control of my body, and was bucking and rolling and really alarmed both of them I think. LOL Within a minute I regained some control, positioned myself on all fours with wide knees, and the head came down. I let my body bear down naturally through two contractions and my 7 lb son came shooting out! Unfortunately my DH missed it as he was out of the room for five seconds to turn off the stove where our extra water was boiling!
Everyone is healthy and happy though and I'm still high from the experience. Thank you all very, very much for the inspiration and education!
