i started ecing about a month or so ago. he was about 4 mo old. he has never really had any cues to tell me when he had to go. i would usually offer potty pretty much after he woke up in the morning and after naps. then he and i both got sick and i really wasn't concerned with doing it because he would cry on potty and i was tired. i've been trying to start doing it again and i am catching maybe one pee a day. when he wakes up from his naps, i get him and try the potty, but most of the time he already went in his cloth diaper. he used to wait til i put him on the potty, but isn't anymore. has he lost his awareness of going potty? what should i do? any advice is appreciated. thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Just keep offering at the times you were before and you'll start having more catches again soon. There are always "bumps in the road" and it sounds like you just had one. (I hope you're all feeling better!!)

I would have to agree. We're pretty new too, but it sounds ike it might take a little bit to get back on track, your ds will likely get the hang of it again. We have been doing EC for about 2 months. DD is 61/2 months old. She is often dry for a short while after naps, but not long. I have to go quick as soon as I hear her wake up. I listen with the monitor for a change in her breathing to know that she has woken. If I wait untill she starts making noise, it is usually too late.

Good luck and keep the faith!

The morning pee is usually easier to catch than the after-nap pee. When you change his diaper in the morning, try him over the potty. You'll have to play with it a bit because it can be a really long time before they have to go after waking up.
