Wool nursing pads...

Thread Starter
I have a few questions about wool nursing pads for mamas who have used them, I've only used the disposables in the past and would like get away from that this time around...

1. Are you supposed to lanolize them in the same way you do wool diaper covers? I wouldn't ordinarily think so, but I've heard it mentioned and wanted to find out for sure.

2. Is there anything specific I should look for as far as what makes one kind better than another. Also, any brand recommendations?

3. How many should I start out with? I tend to leak fairly frequently the first few months, so I probably couldn't have too many, but what would you say is the minimum I should start out with?

4. Do they have to be washed after every use, or can you let them dry and reuse them between washings?

Any other advice, suggestions, or other info is greatly appreciated!

I'm in the same boat and trying to figure things out. So, I would also love imput. But, I have done some research and here is what I found out.
1. yes they need to be lightly lanolized from time to time, not as often though
2. I went to www.diaperpin.com they had many reviews on different nursing pads, wool and other fabrics. I think I may go with the Lana Care brand - but they are more expensive. But they also seem to have the most variety of sizes and absorbancies.
3. Most reccomendations I have read about say you will need only 2-3 pair, one-two sets to dry while wearing the other.
4.You can let them dry and reuse between washings. reccomended washing only about every 2 weeks or when they begin to feel stiff.
Hopefully some women with experience in these will post too. But I hope this info will be helpful to you.
