Best carrier for a larger man

My husband is relatively wide (38" waist). I use an Ergo, but am on the smaller side and it is a pain to adjust every time one of us wants to carry ds. Dh is still using his Bjorn event though ds is definitely too big for it. We want to get a new carrier... any recommendations? My concern with the Ergo is that ds's legs will have to spread too wide on my husbands waist or back... should I worry about this? Could it hurt his hips? Any recommendations?

Well, my husband is a big man & uses the ergo with ds all the time. No problems with his legs being wide. And honestly adjusting the straps is pretty quick.

But dh actually prefers to use his ring sling in a hip carry. I made the ring sling extra long to accomodate dh's size.

we have the same issue with the ergo, even with the waist extender. we've both loved the moby for a while, though. there is a smaller time frame for using the moby before the baby gets too heavy, though, so like you, we're hoping the ergo gets better to use when the babe is larger..

i used and enjoyed a moby for awhile, but dh never had the patience to figure out how to use it and really liked the Bjorn (which i found horribly uncomfortable). I know we could keep adjusting the Ergo... it seems a little decadent to by a second, but I use it SO often and would like to keep it adjusted to me. I want dh to have his own carrier and am glad to invest in one. ds is 7.5 months and we're hoping to have another baby as well, so I think it will make sense to have two. Thanks for your feedback, ladies!

My husband is a big guy, and uses a Beco Butterfly II comfortably.

If you want him to have his own so you don't have to adjust, he might like the Ergo Sport.
