Fantastic Mr. Fox and Tarantino?

We just saw Fantastic Mr. Fox last night and all I could think of through it was that it was a Tarantino movie for kids. I'm not sure why. Could be all those "cusses". It actually was slightly disconcerting for me.

Anyone else or am I just crazy?

Maybe you haven't seen many Wes Anderson films, because it was totally a Wes Anderson movie for kids. The aesthetic is totally different than Tarantinos.

Thanks for setting me straight!

I knew Tarantino wasn't right. It was just as close as I could come with my very limited amount of movie viewing and understanding. I've only seen the commercials that Anderson has made. Not sure about the aesthetics argument as I typically don't analyze movies that deeply. I just knew that it reminded me of Tarantino for some reason.

With George Clooney's voice, and with the carefully calculated thefts, I kept thinking it was an animated "Oceans Eleven."

I haven't seen it yet, but I thought the same thing just from the previews. I really want to see it.

I can see how you got a Tarantino vibe. It was the flippant dialogue, maybe? The title cards? The general dark edge?

I really wanted to love Fantastic Mr Fox, but it never quite got there for me. Goodness knows I'm no enemy of quirky, but it never quite coalesced... I find that about a lot of Wes Anderson's films. I love that they're funny and dark and implacable, but they just need a leetle more heart to make them truly delightful. As it is, the relentless oddball cynicism just makes them feel a bit incomplete.

Personally, I loved Fantastic Mister Fox. "Cuss" is my new swear word(well, its better than the old one ) I don't think it was very aapropriate for small children but older ones, 10+ would appreciate it.
Then again, I love Tarantino

Yeah, I'm still not sure if I liked it or not. I really enjoy Tarantino flicks and I loved the cuss bit for myself. Unfortunately, I didn't screen it before watching it with the family and now my 6 and 4 yo are wandering around saying "Cuss" alot.

My dd is seven and she loved this movie. I didn't see anything in it that a younger child wouldn't like, though maybe that is because we didn't pick up any language from it. I was a little sad that they didn't follow the book very much, but it was cute enough that we watched it three times.

I think I'm glad I knew next to nothing about it. I was pleasantly surprised. George Clooney making growly eating noises made me laugh very hard.

I do think a lot of the cleverness is aimed at the adults, not the kids. Which is OK by me.

I love the book. Saw the trailer. Will not see the movie. I'm a purist.

Loved this movie, as did all three kids, ages 5.5-10.

My husband and I rented Fantastic Mr. Fox last week... I didn't think I was going to like it, but I thought it was surprisingly good and entertaining!
