I went back last week. Mixed emotions. I love making my own money at this fabulous new job I got and DH and the boys are awesome together while mommy is WOHM. It's just that I want to stare at my baby and love him up with major snuggles 24/7 and I can't
. I'm also in school and the end of the semester is winding up so of course there's a megaton of classwork to do
. Oh and the pumping, OMG, not the highlight of my life. I've got major respect for EP'ers.

More [[hugs]] to the working mamas!! I've been on both sides... there's no one right answer for anybody! (worked full-time after dd1 and dd2.. thankfully my parents are in town as well as MIL, who happens to run an in-home daycare, so we never really had to arrange childcare!).
Hope your first day back was okay, PotreroHill! Thinking of you!

mamacatsbaby, how's the pumping going?
Right of Passage, thanks for the hug ![]() Tomorrow's the big day, aaaaaahhh! |
). I'm not crazy about it but I'm blessed to be able to leave milk for my baby. My nipples were quite sore for a minute there. Actually, I think I must have had bleeding at some point b/c DS2 had a little what I'm sure was old digested blood in his spit-up today. He's not upset or in any pain that I can see. The exact opposite actually!
But yeah, never had any issues like that 'til I threw pumping into the mix
.How was your first day back PotreroHill?
cocoanib, yeah, that would be hard. I'm definitely thankful to have the schedule we have where DH and I work opposite shifts/days. We've also got good friends that live around the corner from us that we trade sitting with if either of us needs it.
My first day went well for the most part. I woke up at 5am and it took me an hour to get out of the house, that was with me preparing as much as possible the night before. I dropped Leo off at his dad's. I knew Leo would do great, but I cried as I left- it was just hard leaving my little sweetie. I was able to visit with Leo in the midmorning so we got a little nursing in
Pumping is going well. I pumped four times today and ended up with 16oz. I was a little worried that I wouldn't produce enough, but it looks like that won't be a problem thanks to fenugreek, oatmeal, and drinking tons of water.
Right now I have my little man sleeping in my lap. It's so wonderful

We are trying to do the opposite shift thing too, so that she will only need care for maybe 3 hrs a couple times per week. I'm praying that it works out.

How long do you pump at one time and how much do you get?
Today I pumped when I woke up, midmorning, lunchtime, and afternoon. I got about 4oz each time. I pump for about 15 minutes. I just watch to see when the milk isn't coming out anymore. However, this morning I kept pumping after it stopped coming out and I had a second letdown.
I rented a hospital grade pump tho, so thats probably helping.
