Making ketchup?

Anyone done this and liked the results? I would like to start from a can of tomato paste, not actual tomatoes----time, labor, expense. Thanks!

I haven't tried it yet but I am hoping to give this one a shot pretty soon: Homemade ketchup

I made the Nourishing Traditions ketchup, and well, it tasted a lot like flavored tomato paste. I didn't love it.

This is the recipe I plan on trying out this summer:

I meant to add that I was talking with a woman years ago who made katsup every year that everyone LOVED and she said after years of experimenting she ended up using mostly CARROTS in her recipes, as in 60/40 or more, depending on the toms she was using. I thought that was interesting and plan on experimenting with that one too.

Well, we were out recently, so I just grabbed a can of tomato paste, maple syrup, salt, sugar (yeah, my family is still big into sugar, but hey it ain't HFCS), ACV and I think I added a touch of molasses. I threw the paste in there, added about 2 (maybe more) cans of water and just started dumping things in. I had my DSS come in and taste test it sporadically (since the kids prefer their tastes not mine) and added more sugar, more salt, etc, until he said it tasted like bottled ketchup. Experimenting is really fun, I say just try it - that's what I did. You might surprise yourself!
