Fabric suggestions for home-made wrap?

I'm making a wrap prior to my next creature's birth, and was overwhelmed by the fabric choices at a fabric store today. What kinds of fabrics do you recommend, what have you seen/used for wraps, and what were the pros & cons of each?

With DD, I made a super-cheap wrap using plain dark green cotton knit (t-shirt material), which was comfy, light, and easy to tie/position, but it didn't last long as it stretched too much and bounced when she got bigger (didn't support her). Now I'm looking at other options.

Any suggestions?

Some people like gauze/crinkle cotton, but it's pretty thin and might be diggy.

I've heard of people using osnaburg, linen, very lightweight twill, cotton jaquard fabrics, non stretchy waffle weave cotton (not the thermal knit kind), and monks cloth. It seems most people are quite pleased with osnaburg overall.

TBH however, when I was looking at fabric to make a wrap I found that (at least where I live) it was almost as expensive to buy decent fabric as it was to buy a used wrap.

Hopefully some other people will have some more experience.

I found the same thing. I always hear people say "oh yeah, i got wrap fabric for $1 a yard!" but have never found decent wrap fabric for less than like 8 bucks a yard.

I just made two DIY wraps out of 100% cotton jaquered table cloths. I found them at Kohls for 50% off and I had $10 Kohls cash so I payed $20 total for the two combined. The green one is 3.2m and was a 60x84" cloth split down the middle and joined with a french seam (makes a great middle marker) then hemmed. The red one is 4.7m and was a 60x120" cloth. I hope these picutres show up.

Very easy to make, and they're as comfy and supportive as my BBSlen.

I was thinking of making my own woven wrap also, especially since I want a lighter one now that it's getting warm. I could not find fabric that was light and that I loved and that I could afford.
I accidentally came across one on Etsy (I don't know why I didn't think of looking there before!) and it is beautiful! Only $40 and such lovely fabric that is gauzy for summer.
Now, of course, I am looking through tons of wraps on there but I still think I may go with the first one!
