I am currently researching possible 2nd careers for when my kids are in school full time.(I still have a couple of years to research.) Speech pathology has come up as a possibility. I had thought it wouldn't work for me -and started to settle on communicative disorders assistant- because of the intense 2 year full time masters schedule(with kids being my priority this seems too much), but then I discovered that the University of Toronto offers a part time option. It could be up to 6 years. I know that's a long haul, but I think the pace would be better for my family. My previous career was as a classical actor, which could be of some help (?) as an SLP-love of language, using my voice, voice training etc.
I would love to hear how family friendly this career is and any info or inside tips a mom in this profession has. Thanks.
