Help! ~ from middle-of-nowhere PA

I am living in Troy, PA and pregnant. It is a very small town in Pennsylvania. I am going crazy. I spent several years in Asheville, NC (an exceptionally awesome and stimulating city, for my tastes, at least) and became accustomed to the lifestyle I lived there. I am in Troy for several reasons, none of which can be remedied right now. I feel alone. I have lived in this town for almost a year and in the county for three. I have met few people with similar interests as myself and even fewer with different interests and a mind to discuss them...(I am open to anything!) Life is different in so many ways. My husband loves it here and continually encourages me to make the best of it. Being pregnant makes me feel even more isolated. To feel complete, I need some kind of stimulation, and endless hours spent online do not remedy that need. Ideally, I would like to walk down the street and see some live music, rest at chill coffee shop, or grab some sushi and make some friends. I will settle for just making a friend. Can anyone help?

Hello & welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy! Have you visited the "Finding Your Tribe" forum here on MDC? You might be able to connect with other mamas in your neighborhood. If not, you'll always find wonderful people here to listen. It's hard being in a place you don't really like.

Yes to this! Definitely post in your tribal area. That should be a big help. How far are you from the nearest decent sized town? Maybe some of these would work, if you have the ability to travel a bit.

I have also found that when I can't get out and do stuff face to face with other mamas, it helps to make connections online or otherwise. Becoming active at MDC was a big help to me when I was looking to make a place for myself in the greater parenting community.

Welcome.
