certain days for certain meal types?

Anyone have certain meals on certain days? I'm trying to figure out which categories to do for my meal plans.

So far I've got: Rice meal dinner day, pasta meal day, fast food day, meat/veg/gravy meal day -times 2, soup/jacket potato/salad (very easy meal day), fish meal day....and one im forgetting which equals 8 meal types when there's only 7 days.

I don't do this for every day of the week, but:

Mondays are crock pot days because I do yoga class and we get home late, so we need to eat right away!

Wednesdays are soup days, because Dh is a volunteer firefighter and they meet on wednesdays. His meetings can end anywhere from 8pm-9:30pm, so the kids and I eat our soup and I leave in on the stove on low so that he has hot soup when he gets home.

Sunday brunch is something we like to do as well, and then just a snackplatter/forage type dinner, as brunch is so filling.

I did this at one point, except spread over a month - some things were once a week, but others only, say twice a month. Let's see if I can remember what categories I had!

Asian (excluding Indian)
Indian
Italian
Ground Beef
Chicken
Vegetarian
Eggs/Breakfast
Tex-Mex
Fish
New Recipe
Soup (especially in the winter)
Salad (especially in the summer)
'Other'
...If there were others, I don't remember them right now!

It seems like a lot, but we have a few dozen dishes we rotate through regularly. I like experimenting, so when I'm feeling ambitious or DS is napping, I might try something new...and the new things sometimes become regulars once the technique is down! E.g. pad thai and Vietnamese -style noodle bowls are meals that sound exotic, but are usually under 30 minutes from getting stuff out to having it served up.

We've gotten into a more free-flowing style of meal planning for now;I'm workng on doubling or tripling up on recipes that freeze well, and having stuff in the freezer allows for lots of flexibilty and more impulsivity when making decisions!
