Best time/way to use Ovulation Predictor Kit

I just bought an ovulation kit and am going to start using it soon. Just a few questions...
The instructions indicate that the test is best when done between 8am-10pm, but results are even better when done after 12pm. However, it notes that you cannot pee for at least 4 hrs before you take the test, therefore, most women find it easiest to take it when they first wake up. I would think that most women wake up before 10am, so it it really the best results if done then?

I'm trying to figure out when I should do my testing daily. It also indicates it should be done at the same time each day. It just makes sense to me, when I'm waking up at 7am the same time each day to chart my BBT, and I usually pee right afterward, to just use the ovulation strip at the same time.

Also, does it really have to be done after not peeing for 4 hrs & at the same time each day?

Quick responses will help... since I realized I should probably start the kit today, although it's already 7pm. I can just do it late today and continue the same time from tomorrow on... advice is truly appreciated!!

Thanks :-)

well, most women can easily make it 4 hours without peeing, unless they have a bladder infection or are pregnant (or have prolapsed bladder/other incontinence problems)

I found testing around 1pm was always best for me, I had my morning pee several hours before then and would usually be ready to pee again by then. Plus, when I was testing I had a job and that was when one of my breaks which was long enough to make it to the bathroom and back during was.

After all, 4 hours means if you want to test in the early afternoon every day that only means not peeing between 11am and 3pm and testing at 3pm.

Of course, you dont HAVE to be 4 hours without pee... but testing right away in the morning is often for many women not reliable as you have your LH surge in the morning and it would not show up on your OPK until afternoon. Really, its going to have to be a trial and error thing for you to find when works best and is most comfortable for you.

my trial and error for myself showed it doesnt really matter what time, or how long since peeing. if you are doing it once a day, i would do it late afternoon, that seems to be statistically when you will have the most lh in your pee. but i also think it's not a bad idea to do it more than once a day. you can test like 3 times/day once you see the line getting darker, if you want to be sure you dont miss the surge. otherwise, you can take it one day and almost have a positive as the surge builds, and then you might have enough to have a strong positive say 6 hours after that, but by 24 hours from the first test when you test next, you are back down to an 'almost' positive, and then you wonder what's going on. or not. some people have enough lh to keep it positive for 2 or 3 days, in which case you wont miss it. but not everyone does.

good luck!!!!

Like the other ladies have said, it really depends on your body. I got the best results with SMU, regardless of what time it was

Honestly, what I would do is get a bunch of cheap opk's from the internet or if the ones you got were pretty cheap go ahead and use those. I'd just take them every time you pee for a few days and see when you get the darkest line. You should see a pattern of morning/afternoon or evening that is the darkest
