What are your favorite things to grill? I just learned how to grill and I love it. The problem is I just can't get past hot dogs and hamburgers. Grilled plain chicken breasts just seem so boring and that's as creative as I can think right now.

We grill tons of things but one of my favourites is portobello mushrooms:
remove the stems and mince them with a tiny bit of red onion
mix them with goats cheese and herbs, (you can use herbed goats cheese, or even boursin)
brush caps with olive oil
grill spore side then flip and spoon a bit of cheese mixture in each "cup"
serve with buns and condiments
There you have it, burger extraordinaire!
(or skip the bun and serve on its own, either way is good.)

tri tip or leg of lamb are both excellent grilled - definitely marinate large cuts like this first. And I always take the net off the leg of lamb and open it out so it cooks quicker/more evenly. We also grew up eating ribs off the BBQ (we steam them first), or skirt steak.
We also grill just about any veggie - planks of eggplant, zucchini, whole green onions, corn in the husk, whole mushrooms, halved tomatoes - just drizzle or toss in oil/salt/pepper before tossing on the grill.
I also love to grill summer fruit - halved peaches or plums (firm-ripe), thick slices of fresh pineapple, anything that is firm enough to stand up to the heat and large enough to not slip between the grill.
If you're looking for different flavors, look to mediterranean, korean, japanese, thai, etc., for different marinades. One of my favorite marinades for country style ribs is a thai sauce made of cilantro, ginger and coconut milk. Totally unexpected flavors, but oh so yummy.

Chicken breasts are good if you marinate them first! You can marinate them in something like Italian dressing. One thing we do is marinate them in pineapple juice and then grill the pineapple and eat it all together over rice with veggies.
You can grill thick cut pork chops too! Rub the seasonings you like into the meat and let it sit for a few hours before grilling and it will be delicious.

Just shuck the corn and remove the silk and wrap bacon around it, I've found that thinner bacon works better, we use butchers twine to hold the bacon on and then grill. My husband is the one that does it so I don't know times or temps, I can ask him in the morning if you want, he already went to bed.

We grill lamb, steak, pork cutlets or tenderloin, chicken breasts and thighs, fish steaks and fillets, prawns, lobster.....we usually marinade first before they go on the grill.
Vegetables are especially delicious. I like to grill whole red or orange peppers, and halved zucchini or other summer squash, and then toss with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar and fresh chopped herbs. You can cut them into chunks and skewer them like shish kebab. Mushrooms are good too. Thickly sliced sweet potato grills nicely too.
Grilled corn on the cob is delicious - I usually peel back the greens, remove the silk and then pull back the greens and soak first, but it's not necessary.

We love asparagus (just drizzled with a little olive oil, and salt/pepper), sweet potato wedges (I steam them first so it's faster and sprinkle some spices), portobello caps. As far as meat we do mostly chicken and shrimp, but with a lot of marinades. For example last week we had lemon/basil/garlic marinated shrimp on skewers and today I'll be making chicken in a mango chutney/curry marinade (it's in the fridge bathing in it right now!). Another recipe I like is chicken cubes marinated in soya sauce/ginger/garlic and on skewers, or jerk-style dry spices.

I forgot grilled fruit for dessert - yummy!!
Slice peaches or mango or pineapple (or all of them) and grill for a minute or so.
Skewer strawberry, chunks of pineapple, kiwi, melon etc. to make fruit kebabs.
Basting with a little Cointreau is a nice touch. You can serve with a little plain yogurt with maple syrup, demerara sugar or honey or vanilla yogurt or ice cream or whipped cream or custard - whatever your preference.

We grill everything in the hot weather! all kinds of meat, every veggie you can think of, fruits, pizzas, etc...Grilled radishes rock on pizza, btw.
There are definitely some things I prefer grilled on a gas grill vs. charcoal, though. Like asparagus. Probably my fav. veggie ever, but I will not grill it over charcoal. I don't like it overpowered by the charcoal flavor.

Some of my favorites are: steak, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, squash, shrimp, potatoes in a pouch (aka foil), chicken spiedies (found in upstate ny, basically marinated chicken pieces on a skewer), and DP's hamburgers...
I must admit...The occasional grilled hot dog or sausage tastes oh so good!
