Quixin eye drops

I scratched my cornea and was given numbing eyedrops and dye eyedrops at the ER. That was over 24 hrs ago. I have to use quixin opthalmic eyedrops for a week though.

DS is 4 yo, and I thought this might be an OK time to ween anyway, so I didn't bother asking if it was OK to nurse while taking them.

To complicate matters, DS is allergic to penicillin. I did ask if the eye drops were part of the penicillin family of antibiotics, and they said no, but I'm a bit nervous anyway.

DS isn't doing as well with out yum-yums as I thought he would. Is it OK for him to start nursing again?

Well I googled it, and I hope it's OK, b/c DS really needed some yum-yus.

The antibiotic is levofloxacin, and Hale has some good info on line about the ORAL dose (much higher than the eye dose, I'm sure).

Thanks. It's reassuring to know that one could breastfeed while taking the same drug in a large oral dose (I would think th amounts that actually find their way into my blood stream would be much lower.)
