Anyone ffended that they were not invited to your homebirth? - Page 2

Sorta. The couple people that I would not ever want to see me birthing with no drugs are the 2 people that were most offended. But, whatever. My house, my birth, my baby, my rules. And, DH agreed 100%. He loved that it was an intimate thing that only the 4 of us shared (Me, him, midwife, apprentice) and I loved that I didn't have a captive audience.

if anyone's offended that's their problem. your birth, your body, your baby- you don't owe anybody the privledge of watching you .

What I don't think many people understand (and I get it, as homebirth isn't that "common" in our culture) is that one of the main reasons many women choose homebirth, is to birth on their own terms!

I realize some women love having the room full of people. I've watched many video's of home and hospital births where the room is packed with on-lookers, and people watching. That's great! IF that's what they want!

However, I see it as a quiet and intimate time. I'd rather be in the hospital with a nurse policing the door for unwanted guests, than to be at home and made to feel like people needed to watch me! I want to be mostly alone, with no one "waiting" on me or coaching me to do what they want...I don't want anyone seeing me in my birthing element, nor do I wish to show my body to others-I'm very private that way.

Anyway, it's just a personal choice. People need to get that. If they've been pregnant (or the SO of a pregnant woman) then they have had their time to choose how they would like to birth, and with whom they'd like to share it with.
